Macy
I still have my Thursdays with Macy. I used to do Tuesdays but switched it so that Heather, Bethany, and I can go to lunch on Tuesdays. We try to work around Bethany's school schedule. I have so much fun with that little girl. These pictures are little. I don't know how to fix them. I'll get more later.

August and September
My brother-in-law says I need to write on this blog more often. I guess I put everything on facebook anymore but I'll try to do this too.
After renting waverunners on our vacations for the past several years, Steve and I decided it was time to buy our own. Steve and I have been out every week since we got them, minus the week he went to Texas for the BYU game. We usually go on one of his days off, which aren't my days off, but I work around him. We go to Utah Lake because it is close to where our kids live. Labor Day weekend while Steve was in Texas, Ike, Bethany, Heather, George (Heather's boyfriend) and I went to Jordanelle for the day. We took the dogs and got them life vests (call us crazy). We had a great time. Bethany has pictures of that on her blog so check that out.
Last Monday, we had a little bit of time so we grabbed Bethany and went to Utah Lake for a couple of hours. We got a little bit of time on the lake when a storm rolled in. We got the waverunners on the trailer but noticed one of the boards was crooked so we decided to relaunch it and fix it. We had Bethany get on the waverunner while Steve backed back down the ramp. Just as he got to the water, it started to pour rain, so he decided to wait. Well, the ramp got wet very quickly and the Suburban has rear-wheel drive so it wasn't going anywhere. Meanwhile, Bethany is still on top of the waverunner getting soaked. I yelled at her to come in the Surburban. We sat there for a minute trying to figure out what to do because the Suburban was just burning rubber. I told Steve maybe he and I could push it while Bethany drove it up but we decided that would be too difficult for her, so then I said Bethany and I could push it. I also came up with the idea to put some towels under the rear tires to get some traction. So that is what we did. Picture this: Big Suburban pulling trailer with 2 waverunners, 1 medium sized woman and 1 tiny woman pushing it, Suburban moving 3 feet forwared on the towels and then spinning again, the 2 women moving the towels 4 different times, all the while getting pouring rained on. It was hilarious. When the Suburban finally got to the top, Bethany and I did a little victory dance in the rain. There was a guy in a truck who probably thought we were nuts. Memories.
Bethany, Ike, and I (and the dogs) hiked up Ensign Peak the day before Labor day. It was a beautiful view but very windy. Ike took this picture of Bethany and I.

Okay, so it's been forever since I wrote. I do have a life you know, not a great one, but somewhat of one. After our Park City adventure, the rest of the kids came to Midway on Wednesday. Our friend Mark came up with his boat and we boated for the next 2 days at Jordanelle. We had a great time. Heather and Bethany both got fried. I can't get them to wear sunscreen. They're big girls and don't listen to mom :).
On Friday, we went to my Hatch family reunion. It was fun seeing people I hadn't seen for a long time. It was nice to get home, though, after being gone for a week. Then I had to get back to work. It is so hard to sit there and type after being off for a week. I've decided I'm going to take off a few extra days off after my next vacation.
As for the kids' lives, Nathan and Jessica are expecting again. We are ecstatic. They are due around the end of January. Heather is very happy with a new boyfriend, George. We don't see her much (though George says he plans on changing that, yippee). They came over last night and were here for more than 4 hours. It was great. Bethany and Ike are still trying to start their family. We keep them in our prayers.
Here are various pictures from our vacation.

Park City
Steve, Bethany, Ike, and I went to Park City today for some fun. The Park City Resort has some pretty fun activities to do. We went on the roller coaster, Alpine slide, and the zip line. Here's my funny story about the zip line. While we were waiting in line, things had come to a halt. We asked why and they said that some old guy had gotten stuck near the bottom before the platform and it was taking awhile to get him onto the platform. We all got a little laugh out of it. I even turned around to tell the people behind me that "some old guy was stuck." Ike and Bethany went next, zipped right on down. Then it was Steve and me. Well, guess who got stuck! ME!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I was approximately 30 feet from the platform. They told me to straighten my arms and pull on the straps, alternating them, so it would shimmy the harness toward the platform. They also told me to sort of swing my legs to help it along. Well, as you know, I had shoulder surgery a couple of months ago and I can't straighten my arms all the way so it was very difficult. It didn't really hurt my shoulder but my arms are weak and I got very exhausted. All this time, Steve, Ike, Bethany, and I were cracking up laughing. They were on the platform encouraging me. The whole thing was sooo funny. Bethany was taking pictures. On top of all this, the people waiting in line to ride the roller coaster, who were below me and to the side, were all looking up watching the whole thing. I twisted around the best I could and waved to them all, yelling I was there for their entertainment. Many of them waved back. It was hilarious. After about 10 minutes, a worker came with a rope, threw it over the cable, climbed down off the platform and dragged the rope to me. I then took a hold of it, and it was supposed to be easily pulled to bring me in but it wasn't. I was hanging on with all I had as the worker was pulling it. As I lost my grip, it swung me just close enough where I could grab a hook to be pulled in. After I was released from the harness, the crowd clapped, I turned toward them, waved, and took a bow. As we exited the area, we were just cracking up. I turned to Ike and apologized to him for making him wait so long for lunch. What an ordeal. Picture in your mind a 51-year-old woman hanging on a zip line, trying to swing herself in, and then having to be rescued by the workers. Oh, wait, you don't have to picture it in your mind, here they are. ENJOY!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Grandma

My Grandma Hatch turned 103 yesterday. Here is a picture of her with me and my granddaughter, Macy. Sort of an every-other-generation picture. Grandma has a pile of birthday cards on her table that she was going through and Macy, who has been sick with a cold and had just had her Tylenol, is trying to get out of my lap. Wasn't much for sitting at that moment.

Surgery stinks!!!!
I've been out of touch for awhile after having a bur removed from my shoulder and trying to get the range of motion back. What a major pain. Between physical therapy, pain, and just plain being tired I haven't updated this in awhile. I need to download some pictures of my very beautiful granddaughter, Macy. She makes all my troubles worthwhile.
Today is my Grandma Hatch's 103rd birthday. I love that lady so much. What a wonderful example of a woman to follow in her footsteps. I hope I can achieve at least a fraction of what she has in her life.

May 2009
Getting back to real life after a 2-week vacation proved to be harder than I thought it would be. I decided I need to take a week off after vacation just to be at home and recuperate. It was so hard to get back to typing 32 hours a week. I did that for 3 weeks and now am off for another 3 weeks recuperating from shoulder surgery. I had a pretty good sized bur on my right shoulder which had been giving me trouble for several months. It has proved to be more painful post surgery than I thought it would be but improving each day. I thought I would be able to do more during my recovery before I go back to work, but I think the things I was going to do in the yard are going to have to wait.
For Mother's Day, we went to my parent's sacrament meeting where my mom and nearly 103-year-old grandma spoke in Sacrament meeting. My grandma was introduced as the "youth" speaker. They both did a great job.
We (Steve, Heather, her roommate Amy, Isaac, Bethany, and I) went to Meadow for Memorial Day to put flowers at Steve's parent's grave. We hadn't had a chance to see the headstone since his father's name had been added and decided to take this chance to do it. We also visited Cove Fort, Fort Deseret, and Topaz. The thought came to me at Cove Fort that Isaac's great-great-great grandfather, Ira Hinckley, who established the fort, most likely knew my great-great grandfather, George A. Smith, who would have passed through on his way to/from St. George. It was a fun 2 days.
