My brother-in-law says I need to write on this blog more often. I guess I put everything on facebook anymore but I'll try to do this too.
After renting waverunners on our vacations for the past several years, Steve and I decided it was time to buy our own. Steve and I have been out every week since we got them, minus the week he went to Texas for the BYU game. We usually go on one of his days off, which aren't my days off, but I work around him. We go to Utah Lake because it is close to where our kids live. Labor Day weekend while Steve was in Texas, Ike, Bethany, Heather, George (Heather's boyfriend) and I went to Jordanelle for the day. We took the dogs and got them life vests (call us crazy). We had a great time. Bethany has pictures of that on her blog so check that out.
Last Monday, we had a little bit of time so we grabbed Bethany and went to Utah Lake for a couple of hours. We got a little bit of time on the lake when a storm rolled in. We got the waverunners on the trailer but noticed one of the boards was crooked so we decided to relaunch it and fix it. We had Bethany get on the waverunner while Steve backed back down the ramp. Just as he got to the water, it started to pour rain, so he decided to wait. Well, the ramp got wet very quickly and the Suburban has rear-wheel drive so it wasn't going anywhere. Meanwhile, Bethany is still on top of the waverunner getting soaked. I yelled at her to come in the Surburban. We sat there for a minute trying to figure out what to do because the Suburban was just burning rubber. I told Steve maybe he and I could push it while Bethany drove it up but we decided that would be too difficult for her, so then I said Bethany and I could push it. I also came up with the idea to put some towels under the rear tires to get some traction. So that is what we did. Picture this: Big Suburban pulling trailer with 2 waverunners, 1 medium sized woman and 1 tiny woman pushing it, Suburban moving 3 feet forwared on the towels and then spinning again, the 2 women moving the towels 4 different times, all the while getting pouring rained on. It was hilarious. When the Suburban finally got to the top, Bethany and I did a little victory dance in the rain. There was a guy in a truck who probably thought we were nuts. Memories.
Bethany, Ike, and I (and the dogs) hiked up Ensign Peak the day before Labor day. It was a beautiful view but very windy. Ike took this picture of Bethany and I.
